FAQ
General
Are natural skin care products better for my skin?
For many, the shift to natural skin care reflects a desire to use products with recognisable, minimally processed ingredients. Some evidence and studies suggest that natural ingredients can be gentler and more in harmony with the skin. However, 'natural' doesn't automatically mean a product is better for everyone. Skin type, conditions, and sensitivities play a significant role. Listening to your skin is key.
Why do people prefer natural skincare?
Natural skincare products often contain fewer artificial additives, preservatives, and harsh chemicals, making them a safer option for sensitive skin.
What is the difference between natural and organic skincare?
“Organic” strictly refers to ingredients that are farmed without pesticides, chemicals or artificial fertilisers and it is non-GMO. You can safely assume that an organic product will have between 95-100% chemical free ingredients while for a natural product; this is usually around 50-70%.
Do Pakiko Skincare products contain nasties?
The Pakiko Skincare range is proudly free of nasties and skin irritants including parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, PEGs, sulphates, silicones, GMOs, and synthetic colours and fragrances.
Where are Pakiko Skincare products made?
We're an Australian-owned and operated company. Our products are formulated and distributed in Perth, Western Australia.

Skin concerns
I have really dry skin - what Pakiko Skincare products will work best for me?All of our products were designed with those suffering from really dry skin in mind (although they are suitable for all skin types). We find, during Winter we experience a larger volume of orders for moisturisers and butters. In Winter we tend to have warmer showers, wear full coverage clothing most the day and are exposed to cooler conditions where the moisture from the air draws the moisture out of our skin, resulting in dry skin. Our top moisturiser for dry skin is the Shea & Lemongrass Body Butter - high in fatty acids and protects the skin from moisture escaping. (Although the Calendula Face & Body Butter and the Selenite Body Butter are suitable for dry skin too)
If I have oily skin - won't using oil cleansers and facial oils make me oilier?
A common misconception with oily skin is thinking your skin will become oilier if you apply topical oils and butters. In truth, often what is causing the oily build up is an underlying lack of hydration in your skin’s surface. Dehydration can lead to an over compensation and over production of the skin’s natural oils, or sebum. Getting your skin’s hydration levels right is the first step to balancing the skin. Oil binds to oil so oil cleansers do not necessarily make the skin oilier but help to draw excess oil out and face oils that are formulated with low-comedogenic (meaning non-clogging) oils will not clog the pores or make the skin oily.
Can I use Pakiko Skincare products if I am prone to breakouts and acne? Most definitely! In fact, we encourage it. Our face products are formulated with low comedogenic ingredients that will not clog the pores or induce breakouts.
Note: You should be cleansing your skin with a product that doesn’t strip hydration or alter the skin’s pH by wreaking havoc on the skin’s natural acid mantle.
I have eczema - can I still use Pakiko Skincare?
Eczema triggers are different for everyone, so it’s hard for us to say that using all the Pakiko Skincare products won’t cause you to flare up, however we have had some great results with customers prone to eczema and inflammation. Pakiko has a lotion especially formulated for those suffering from eczema, psoriasis and inflammation, with ingredients that are high in fatty acids, retain hydration, support and strengthen the skin barrier. it is the Living Lotion.
Yes! In fact, our founder and sensitive skin bearer swears by them all. Our products are gently formulated without fragrances, synthetics, parabens or phthlates. They are diluted and gentle enough for children and suitable for all skin types.
*We suggest always performing a patch test on hidden skin first if you have concerns.
I am concerned about the signs of ageing - what Pakiko Skincare products will work best for me?
Your skin will benefit from any of our products. They are all high in vitamins and minerals and the nutrients that skin needs to restore and regenerate the skin barrier while nutrifying the skin cells. Our products also offer support that retains hydration and fights oxidation which causes ageing.
Will Pakiko Skincare products give me an allergic reaction?
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you will not have an allergic reaction as all our products are produced in an environment where cross-contamination is possible, albeit unlikely. Our products don’t contain gluten but we do use natural nut oils and butters in our products. For instance, we include sweet almond oil and shea nut butter. If you have concerns about allergies please refer to the ingredient lists in the product descriptions, discuss with your doctor, and always perform a patch test on hidden skin first.
